Smackdown live - 01/15/2019 - what happened and opinions.

Smackdown started with Becky Lynch pulling up in her car, crowd cheers for the man herself, she then got interviewed about the championship match and asking if she is really ready for asuka, which she said she would go answer in the ring before getting distracted by new day, which Becky said the smoothie was a little weak.


The crowd always react well to Becky wheather she's face or heel, we live for Becky, Becky's promo was again about her championship match, where she claims she is ready for asuka and how she got the whole world to listen, how she created a buzz, and how the hyper she has isn't fake, the hype that asuka hype is, after Becky had smack talked asuka came out to the ring.
Asuka chants start out but the crowd quickly beat who started the asuka chants with Becky chants, asuka starts her promo calling Becky a bee with no sting and how she will be in her shadow after royal rumble not Charlotte's, as asuka's English isn't great her promos are never very long but they are to the point which is enough, but soon our favourite women's tag team cut both women off, yes our favourite Aussies the iiconics, Billie starts the promo for the girls accussing asuka of not behaving like a professional champion, making scary faces and threats saying she has no class, then Peyton then turns to Becky about how she has no class and about the way she treated the interviewer kayla, at the start of the show, then called her bossy Becky and said it's typical behaviour from a man, reaching for the fact that Becky referred herself to being the man, the crowd did not like this.
The girls then said it doesn't match who wins at royal rumble as THEY BOTH are going to win the royal rumble match the crowd did not like that either, Becky shut them down turning to asuka saying to you want to know what the buzz is about and turned to the IIconics asking which one wanted a match right now.


The first match of the night was then Becky  Vs Peyton, FINALLY Peyton got to wrestle in 2019, if you follow her on social media she has stated how she hasn't actually wrestled yet this year, asuka was ring side and the match started with a right hand from Becky to Peyton's throat, the match started off with Becky being dominant and having one over on Peyton,  lacy evans was seen watching the match, the tables turned in the match with Peyton finally getting some moves in of her own ,this unfortunately didnt last long, but from that point onwards the match was back and forth and was a decent match, Peyton got to show how talented she is alot during this match, unfortunately for the iiconics Peyton tapped out to the arm bar.
After the match asuka came in to the ring with a mic speaking in her own language,we can only guess what she said. But she ends up with a match against billie Kay.

Second match of the night, asuka Vs Billie Kay, it did not last long at all, three moves and she did her own version of Becky's submission, in the end getting Billie to tap out to the asuka lock, I felt bad for Billie in this match as it was just a bury me match, there was nothing in it for Billie it was just to making asuka look like the asuka we had before Charlotte beat her, silly match in my opinion, anyway after the quick match there was a star down between Becky and asuka, anything you can do I can do better pretty much, AJ Styles music hit while the women were still in the ring,  both women left the ring while AJ walked past both and looked at them, Styles was not meant to be out there, he walked round the ring and up in the crowd and that was it, once again WWE trying to have their male talent overshadow their female talent.

After the break, WWE cut to a segment we AJ at the confections stand, with the crowd behind him cheering, he talks about how it's just like Daniel was last week, he just sort of said the opposite too Daniel said last week about the fans, Daniel dressed as a fan attacks AJ Styles, that's where the segment ended when security came in, Daniel was on the floor as AJ was being held back by security.


Cut to another promo of the Usos doing a photo shoot sporting royal rumble merch, a runner enters giving Jimmy a gift, which happens to be a key to a hotel room from Mandy, to me this whole storyline is a bit stupid but let's see where wwe go with it, Jimmy think it's from Naomi and has his brother ready the note, both confused when jay says 'love Mandy' then asks his brother what you gonna do? Segment ended there.


The camera goes to Joe, Samoa Joe, who looks to the side of him to see NXT star EC3, quicky walking off after a look of disgrace.

Kayla then has an interview with Zelina Vega and Andrade, the interview was about his match tonight with Rey, Zelina tells Kayla it's all about the future and how he's going to win the royal rumble and how he will then go on to win at wrestle mania.

The next match was Samoa Joe Vs Mustafa Ali, will know him from 205 live if you have ever watched, it's decent give it a watch, the match Joe dominant, well and truly, the match never really started he attacked him before it even started, Joe has stated before hand that come the royal Rumble, he is going to take out everyone that gets in his way, walking off with a smirk on his face.

Segment with Sonya and Mandy, this segment is on what Mandy plans are for Jimmy & Naomi and it's to break up their marriage, so WWE are going for home wrecker storyline, with the three off them, Sonya we know is Mandy's best friend, despite the fact Mandy eliminated her at evolution, they still say they are besties, sonya asks Mandy if she really wants to do this, mandy is doing this as she can't stand Naomi, well sit down then love. She just wants to make her life miserable, Sonya doesn't seem to fully agree but doesn't stop her best friend.


The next match was Rey Vs Andrade, before the match we see Rey walking to the ring before getting distracted by Nikki cross who is behind the fence asking Rey to let Nikki play in a not so sane way, rey quickly left.

Now time for Rey Vs Andrade, the last match they had together was a great match and Andrade won the last match they had, the match was back and forth and a decent match between the two, with Zelina at the side cheering Andrade on, Andrade is a really talented fella and does have a bright future in WWE along with Zelina who is already staring in a movie along side the rock called fighting with my family which is a movie about Paige and her wrestling family Vega plays AJ Lee in a match against Paige, the match was amazing both men taking alot of bumps, the match ended with Vega distracting the ref and let Andrade take advantage and pick up the win.


Back to another segment, Jimmy shows up at Mandy's Hotel, which has all questioning everything, Mandy is there in a black little robe, Jimmy has a look on his face of wondering what to do, Mandy telling to stop playing hard to get, Jimmy tells Mandy he can't do this and how it needs to stop, the paps get the picture and Mandy then turns to how she doesn't really want him, it's about his wife, she hates Naomi, this was all a plot to end her life, Jimmy leaves saying the words hmm my wife, leaving the door open, Naomi appears and the beat down of Mandy start, this segment reminded me off WWE back in the day just slightly better beat down.

Up next another segment/promo, the miz throwing a birthday bash for Shane, his now bestie, the crowd love Shane, we all love Shane, he's pretty much everyone's favourite McMahon FACT, the two being a tag team now and having a match at royal rumble against the bar, the miz wishes Shane a happy birthday from us all and the crowd chant happy birthday, this promo was humourous as always in promos with Shane and the miz who goes on about his cakes that he got for shane, the miz then hands Shane a gift, the promo turns to shame saying he dreamed off being tag team Champions as a kid, it was a heartfelt moment between the both of them. The bar came out and ruined the birthday bash, this ends up with a match between sheamus and the miz set up by Shane.


The main event, was the miz Vs Sheamus, the miz being in his Suit, the match was back and forth, since the miz wasn't dressed, in the end the match ends with the miz winning, sheamus then attacks the miz but Shane comes to the rescue, the end of smackdown shows that both men are on the same page, Shane ended the show with his famous coast to coast on sheamus with a cake, being put all over sheamus.



Personally I think smackdown this week could of with a few less segments but were all building up to the royal rumble.

I'd rate smackdown a decent 7 out of 10.
